So the butler didn't do it?

In an incredible display of stereotype reinforcement, the Nigerian
police have arrested a GOAT on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.
Their justification? It "morf(ed) [sic] from a human to escape justice."

I love the absolutely matter-of-factness with which the following
statements are made:

"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on
patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car," Kwara state
police spokesman Tunde Mohammed said.

"They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned
into a goat."

Following his confirmation of the ludicrous story, he says this:

"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody."

Huh?

In case by this point, you were beginning to doubt his sanity, he
assures you that, "We cannot base our information on something mystical.
It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being
turned into a goat."

Okay then.

Finally, given my admittedly very limited interaction with and knowledge
of goats, I always pictured goats as chilling by piles of straw,
possibly in a kneeling position. However, this must clearly be a
remarkable phenomenon, since, "people have been flocking to the police
station to see the goat, photographed in one national newspaper on its
knees next to a pile of straw."

P.S. I'm fairly certain that the goat in the picture is not THE goat in
question (or being questioned).
